FINAL EXAM PERIOD May 5-11 EXAM III (Rates of Chemical Reactions, Rate Laws, Reactions at Equilibrium, Chain Reactions, Photochemistry)

PROBLEM SESSIONS:  Homework problems will be assigned to teams of students (2 students/team) to present in class on a specific day.  One team member should present one problem, or if it is a very long problem, both team members can present.  Don’t just copy the answer from the Student Solution Manual!  Usually the manual skips a lot of steps, or is not clear.  Rather, give enough detail to explain exactly how the problem was solved.  Take your time & make the presentation slowly & clearly so the rest of the class can benefit.  You get one point for a good presentation, 0 if you don’t show up or haven’t a clue about the solution or didn’t even try to solve it.  It’s OK to ask me for help in advance.  The points count for the “Team Problem” part of your grade. Presentation will be done with transparancies & overhead projector.

EXAMS: Exams are 1.5 hours long and are open book, open notes, open problems. No smartphones, ipads, laptops, etc. are allowed. EXAM III will be given during the final exam period and will not be cumulative.  It will consist of the material covered since Exam II. The NJIT HONOR CODE will be upheld.  Any violations will be brought to the attention of the Dean of Students.

EXAM MAKE-UP POLICY—Make-up exams are only given in the case of well-documented, serious medical conditions. Documentation should be provided to the Dean of Students, who will decide if a make-up should be given.
