Majors

BS in Chemistry

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry prepares students for careers in industry and for entry to graduate school or professional schools in areas of chemistry, medicine, dentistry or law. The program includes solid emphasis on laboratory skills, scientific principles and mathematics in practical, industrially-oriented areas of chemistry. Students can specialize or explore a particular area of chemistry or prepare for an advanced degree by selecting from a wide range of technical electives.

BS in Environmental Science

The major in environmental science is an interdisciplinary program among the NJIT Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science, the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Rutgers-Newark, and the NJIT and Rutgers Federated Biological Sciences Department. The program provides students with a strong background in science and fundamentals as they relate to the environment.

Minors

Minor in Chemistry

The modern work environment often requires an understanding of Chemistry. Many positions in medicine, engineering, biology, polymers, environmental science and chemical management involve a considerable amount of chemistry. A minor in Chemistry often requires only a few courses beyond the chemistry courses needed for your major, and it may be a good investment. Your increased background in chemistry will give you an improved basis in the science and added resources to draw from.

Minor in Economics

Market forces in today’s modern society are as strong as technological changes. The Minor in Economics is designed to help you better understand market forces and the broad economic system.
