Transfer Credits Information
Looking to transfer your credits from another college or university to NJIT?
It may be possible for you to take a CES course at another institution during the Winter and/or Summer semesters if you meet the requirements.
Replacing a NJIT Grade:
If you have taken a CES course and received a grade of D, F, W, NAD, or AC, and wish to replace that grade, you cannot take the course at an outside institution--you must retake that course here at NJIT. No exceptions.
Department Transfer Credit Rules:
-
CES does not allow courses to be taken at another institution during the Spring or Fall semesters, only during Winter and Summer semesters.
-
Courses taken outside of NJIT must be in-person / face-to-face. Courses may not be online, distance learning, or hybrid.
-
Courses taken at other colleges must be at least six weeks in duration.
-
Student must have a signed "Approval for Undergraduate Courses at Another School" form, available from the Office of the Registrar, prior to registering for the course. It must be signed by CES and the Office of the Registrar. If you do not have a signed approval form prior to taking a course at another college, or any information on the form is falsified, the course will not transfer under any circumstances. Follow these 8 steps:
- Only courses that have an active Course Equivalency listing on njtransfer.org will be considered transferable
- Visit njtransfer.org and select "Find Course Equivalencies" from the Students menu at the top
- Select the institution in "Transfer From" and select New Jersey Institute of Technology in "Transfer To". Click Submit
- Leave the Course ID field blank and click "List All Equivalencies"
- Check the boxes for "Active Courses Only" and "Courses Evaluated for Transfer only" and click Search
- Use CTRL+F to Find on the page the course you are looking for; the Course ID for the form is in the leftmost column. Complete Section I of the form. Do not write anything in Section II
- For Section II, email the form to Ms. Genti Price (price@njit.edu); if the transfer is possible and the form is correct, she will sign the form and send it back to you
- For Section III, email the form with Ms. Price's signature to transfer@njit.edu.
